Rolls-Royce preferred supplier of industrial gas turbines for BP Amoco

07-06-00 Rolls-Royce has been selected as a preferred supplier of industrial gas turbines by BP Amoco. The move strengthens the position of Rolls-Royce in global markets for the supply of both onshore and offshore compression drivers and power generation equipment.
Under the agreement, Rolls-Royce becomes part of a select group of suppliers used by BP Amoco to meet its needs for the supply and maintenance of power generation packages and compression equipment over a ten year period. The agreement covers the provision of Rolls-Royce Avon and RB211 aero derived gas turbines to BP Amoco oil and gas projects world-wide.

Adrian Smith, Regional Sales Director for Rolls-Royce Energy Systems - Oil and Gas, said: "Not only does this strengthen our position with a major client like BP Amoco but it also raises the prospect of capturing new sales around the world. It also means that BP Amoco is committed to obtaining equipment from an exclusive group of suppliers." "The agreement also brings significant benefitsto BP Amoco through standardisation of their products, a closer working relationship and maximising life cycle value."
Rolls-Royce last year continued its strategy of growing its global energy business by providing solutions for customers in the power generation and oil gas markets through the purchase of the rotating compression equipment interests of Cooper Energy Services, part of Cooper Cameron based in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
That allowed Rolls-Royce to take full control of the joint venture company, Cooper Rolls. The purchase enables Rolls-Royce to continue to use the Cooper-Bessemer trade name for compression systems and as part of the deal acquired the En-Tronic Controls product lines, which are used as control systems for use on both compression and reciprocating equipment packages.
