A bit of a shock
The times are changing fast and sometimes the news is good and sometimes the news is not so good. In the last weeks there were some issues that were a bit shocking, in different ways.
First there was this statement: "World oil production has peaked in 2006," from the German-based Energy Watch Group (EWG). "Production will start to decline at a rate of several per cent per year. By 2020, and even more by 2030, global oil supply will be dramatically lower. This will create a supply gap which can hardly be closed by growing contributions from other fossil, nuclear or alternative energy sources in this time frame," the EWG added in its study.
It is shocking in its clarity, and for what it may say.
In the same weeks the UN warned for our unsustainable way of living that is bringing the human race in peril. There have been several of these reports recently that come to the conclusion that as the energy-production will start to decline, with all its knock-on effects, and the climate keeps changing, there will be a decline in the global population.
At the same time it becomes clear that the expectations for the production from biofuels are overstretched and the environmental damage not being considered. The results of this are far-reaching.
It must also have been a shock for Iraq to discover that in the oil-related parts of their new constitution, numerous virtually unsolvable inclarities have been built in. And through the thus created chaos, an old friend of the president of the country that wrote the constitution, is appearing on top of some very promising areas.
Just a few issues from a multitude that can be read in the new edition now available on the site.
Enjoy your time,
