Tunisia grants drilling licence to GB Petroleum and ETAP
29-07-08 Tunisian Minister of Industry, Energy, Small and Medium-Size Enterprises Afif Chelbi chaired a signing ceremony of a draft agreement granting an oil prospection permit, the "Nord Anaguid" permit, to the British GB Petroleum company and to the Tunisian Oil Activities Company (ETAP).
The permit, which will require an investment estimated at $ 1 mm, also covers a 704 sq- km area, located in the Tataouine governorate.
According to the agreement, GB Petroleum will achieve prospection on the permit, as well as on the research permit in case of change.
This agreement was co-signed by Minister Chelbi and Robert Lambert, GB Petroleum chairman, and Khaled Becheikh, ETAP chairman and managing director. The two-year programme of validity works for the prospection permit is the second permit by Tunisia with the British since preliminary agreements signed last April.
