Libya Oil Holdings rebrands its label in Morocco
03-03-09 The Libyan oil group "Libya Oil Holdings", which manages a network of 182 fuel distribution stations in Morocco and has a broad portfolio of retailers, have rebranded its label, official sources told.
The company will now be called "Oilibya" in the kingdom.
The Libyan group, also active in the fields of aviation, marine and industry, is engaged in several oil investments across Africa through more than 20 companies operating in prospecting, production, storage, transportation and distribution of oil products.
The chairman of the group, Ali Shamekh expressed his company's interest to increase investments in Morocco. He stressed that Oilibya (Libya Oil Morocco) was seeking to position itself as a key player in the energy sector.
In August last year, "Libya Oil Holdings" repurchased subsidiary companies of the oil group Anglo-Dutch Shell in Sudan, Djibouti and Ethiopia, in which it set up 240 fuel distribution stations. The group has also repurchased the subsidiary companies of the
American company ExxonMobil in Tunisia and Morocco.
The Libyan group, according to an agreement signed earlier, is in joint partnership with the Moroccan Board of phosphates. Morocco, the world's largest producer and exporter of phosphates, has three quarters of the world's phosphate reserves, estimated to reach 80 bn tons. Of this figure, 20 mm tons are exported to Europe.
