PdVSA begins drilling in Paria's gulf waters

18-01-02 PdVSA Gas has begun drilling at the a three-year, $ 375 mm exploration project, in Deltana Platform in Paria's gulf waters next to Trinidad, according to a PdVSA Gas spokesman. PdVSA Gas, is looking for options to build a complex on the Paria peninsula similar to the petrochemical and cryogenic complex in Jose, the spokeswoman added.
"The idea is to build the complex to enhance the planned LNG project, but in Guiria on the eastern Paria peninsula at the site of the proposed liquefaction plant," the spokeswoman told.

Venezuela has various international companies interest in the $ 2 bn Paria project, the so called Cristobal Colon project or petit Cristobal, including Royal Dutch-Shell, ExxonMobil, and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical the original proposers of the Cristobal Colon project 5 years ago.
