Venezuela to increase oil shipments to China

24-08-05 Venezuelan will increase its oil shipments to China from 12.300 bpd to 68.000 bpd in 2005, said Venezuela's oil company PdVSA.
"In 2004 (were shipped to China) an average of 12,300 barrels of oil a day, and so far in 2005 this stands at 68,800 bpd on average, a 560 % increase," according to PdVSA.

PdVSA opened an office in Beijing to serve as an advance post to increase business in Asia.
Asdrubal Chavez, PdVSA's director and responsible of sales and transport, said the government wants to increase oil sales to China and other Asian countries, to 300,000 bpd by 2012.

This level of sales would require large oil tankers with a capacity of roughly 2 mm barrels every month that will present a difficult operation with a transfer from Venezuelan refineries to PdVSA's Curacao's Isla refinery to make it possible to load the large tankers.
Venezuela's terminal does not have the capacity to load the maxi tankers.
