31-08-09 The Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, PetroVietnam, and Russia's Zarubezhneft Company have signed a memorandum of understanding on oil and gas exploration offshore Cuba, a PetroVietnam official said.
PetroVietnam's unit PetroVietnam Exploration and Production Corp and Zarubezhneft had agreed earlier to "prepare works for oil and gas exploration and production in a deepwater area offshore Cuba," said the official.

Zarubezhneft has also agreed to consider joining PetroVietnam in developing some offshore Vietnam blocks, the official added.
This news comes as it was also released that Zarubezhneft will continue to expand cooperation with PetroVietnam and other Vietnamese partners within the energy sector. The Zarubezhneft General Director Nikolai Brunich had made the statement at a meeting with Vietnamese Party politburo member Truong Tan Sang in Hanoi on August 29 during his current working visit to Vietnam.
