TransGlobe Energy announces Yemen oil production start up
06-11-00 TransGlobe Energy has announced the start of oil production on Block 32, Republic of Yemen. Tasour field production operations were initiated on November 3, 2000, marking the culmination of four years of exploration and development effort.
The Tasour #1 well is producing clean oil to the production tanks at approximately 4,000 Bpd. The Tasour #1 rate will be increased and the Tasour #3 and #4 wells will be brought into production over the next two weeks to raise the field production rate to 10,000 bpd (approximately 1,000 bpd to TransGlobe).
The export pipeline will begin filling and is expected to reach the Nexen central production facility in two to three days. The oil will be marketed by Nexen. Masila crude is currently selling at approximately $ 30.50 ($ 2.00 less than West Texas Intermediate). The company has a 9.81 working interest in the block.
TransGlobe is an international exploration and production company with its corporate office in Calgary, Alberta. Along with its interest
in Block 32, the company holds a 25 % working interest in Block S-1 in the Republic of Yemen where it has participated in three new discoveries. TransGlobe also has producing properties in Alberta and British Columbia, Canada.
