Iran and Romania find fair settlement of rig dispute

25-08-06 Tehran and Bucharest agreed on fair settlement of a dispute between their companies over a rig in southern Iranian territorial waters.
Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and his Romanian counterpart Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu also stressed expansion of bilateral ties, especially in the economic and commercial sectors, and cooperation on the international level.

Romanian oil firm Grup Servicii Petroliere (GSP) just recently failed to illegally withdraw the Orizont rig, chartered by the Iranian company Petro Iran, from a development project zone in Salmas oil and gas field in Iranian territorial waters.
Petro Iran said that the owner company had already taken similar move to illegally withdraw Fortuna rig from Iranian territorial waters.

To take Orizont rig away from Salman zone illegally, GSP had put a barrier on the runway to prevent Petro Iran helicopter from conducting any flight.
Mottaki and his Romanian counterpart also reached agreement on mutual talks on the sidelines ofthe upcoming UN General Assembly meeting in New York.
