22-12-08 The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) allocated some $ 1.7 bn to purchase 28 heavy offshore and land drilling rigs, the NIOC Managing Director Seifollah Jashnsaz said.
"Twenty of them are offshore rigs," he explained while adding that some $ 110 mm has been allocated to repair 8 drilling rigs. "The role of drilling industry in production of oil and gas would be more prominent than ever," Jashnsaz said.

According to the official purchase of technical tools and light drilling rigs, at $ 200 mm, is the company's other plan.
"Paying attention to home-made industry will create more job opportunities along with meeting drilling industry's needs," Jashnsaz pointed out adding that some industrial complexes should be set up in Khuzestan province.
