Seagull completes gas discovery well in the Gulf of Mexico

Mar. 12, 1997 Seagull Energy Corporation has announced the successful completion of a new fault block natural gas discovery well in the Gulf of Mexico. Seagull reported that its Brazos Block 552 OCS-G 11283 #A-3 well encountered 86 cumulative feet of productive gas sands in six zones. Tests conducted during the course of completion operations in two of the six zones yielded gas flows totalling 4.8 mmcfpd.
Seagull's exploration and production subsidiary is operator and holds a 17.5 % working interest in the discovery well, which is located about 62 miles south-west of Freeport, Texas in approximately 78 feet of water. The remaining interests are held by Samedan Oil Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Noble Affiliates, Inc., 32.5 %; Case- Pomeroy Oil Corporation, 24.35 %; Mitchell Energy Corporation and Ashland Exploration, Inc., recently renamed Blazer Energy Corporation, each with 8.77 %; and Holly Petroleum, Inc., 8.1 %. The well will be linked to existing facilities and begin producing before the end of March.
