Schlumberger to begin production in Tyumen
28-07-04 Schlumberger plans to begin turning out equipment for the oil and gas industry at its new plant in Tyumen in the second quarter of 2005, Schlumberger's project manager in Russia Robert Keimig told.
The plant should be producing at full capacity in one to one-and-a-half years, but this depends on how rapidly cooperation with Russian component suppliers can be arranged, Keimig said.
Schlumberger is looking to be involved in the production of Russian equipment, components and materials, he said. Keimig has met with management at a series of Tyumen-based enterprises, he said, and has been pleased with these meetings.
The plant in Tyumen will be making equipment that complies with world quality standards, Keimig noted.
The company likes its site in Tyumen, since Western Siberia is home to a large number of consumers of Schlumberger oil and gas equipment, Keimig said.
The company's main plants are based in the United States and Singapore, which makes it tough to quickly meet orders fromSiberian customers and supply them services, he added.
