Itera and Gazprom offer gas to Georgia.

July 13, 1998 Energy company Itera, registered in the US, jointly with Gazprom, "expressed preparedness" to offer natural gas to Georgia on the basis of a long-term agreement on advantageous conditions. Gas supplies are to meet local requirements for energy. Both companies are also prepared "to take care for natural gas deliveries to Turkey via Georgia."
This is said in the official report of the Georgian president's press service, which is devoted to the results of a meeting between Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze, Itera President Igor Makarov and Georgian Fuel and Energy Minister Temur Giorgadze.
The report says that Itera also intends to reconstruct the energy unit "TBILRES", to build a power transmission line in Georgia, as well as take part in restoring the main gas pipeline in the country.
