PT Indonesia to build new power generating facilities

07-10-02 PT Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of the state-owned electric utility PLN, said it plans to invest $ 1.2 bn in building new power generating facilities by 2006 aimed at coping with possible shortage in power supply, its president Firdaus Akmal said.
Akmal said the country's power requirement grows by 10 % on the average per year.

The projects include gas steam fired power generating plants, hydroelectric generating plants, geothermal power generating plants, and diesel power plants.
The projects will be financed by international financial agencies, Akmal said. He said PT Indonesia Power would also expand the generating capacity of its existing plants starting next year.
