13-04-09 Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) and Venezuelan state energy company PdVSA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the framework of cooperation, intended to strengthen relations between the two governmental organizations.
This MoU was signed in accordance with the Memorandum on Energy Cooperation signed on March 19, 2009 between the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The framework of cooperation agreed in this MoU between JOGMEC and PdVSA includes the evaluation of potential joint projects in the areas such as the Orinoco oil belt, mature fields and offshore areas of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, training of human resources and collaborative research and development on oil and gas upstream technologies.
JOGMEC, Inpex, Mitsubishi and PdVSA have also signed a joint study agreement for Junin Block 11, part of the onshore Orinoco oil belt.
