25-03-02 Foster Wheeler announced that its subsidiary, Foster Wheeler South Africa, has been awarded the $ 130 mm engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract for an upstream gas facility by Sasol Petroleum Temane. The project is based in Temane, Republic of Mozambique, and is the first major upstream and petrochemical development in Mozambique.
Foster Wheeler will be responsible for developing a production facility at the Temane gas field producing sales-quality gas for transmission to South Africa.
The development will include the infield flow lines from 11well sites and the central processing facilities. With a natural gas feedstock, the facility will produce 120 mm GigaJoules per annum of sales-quality gas.
"This project extends Foster Wheeler's relationship with Sasol," said Ian Bill, chairman and CEO of Foster Wheeler Energy Limited. "Earlier this year Foster Wheeler's Reading Oil and Gas Centre of Excellence developed the basic design and engineering package for
this facility. Foster Wheeler's innovative approach produced a cost-effective basis for the development while achieving challenging schedule objectives."
