Pemex awards Horizon contract for Cantarell field

17-04-02 Mexico's state oil company Pemex has awarded US-based oil and gas construction firm Horizon Offshore a contract to rehabilitate pipelines in the Cantarell field in the Bay of Campeche, Horizon said. The project will include salvaging and repairing several pipelines, including riser expansion curves, testing repaired segments, installing topside spools, and line stabilizations, among other things.
Horizon will send three of its vessels for the project, the derrick barge Atlantic Horizon, lay barge Gulf Horizon and the diving support vessel Pearl Horizon. Construction will begin in 2Q02.

The company is currently working on Pemex contracts for the EPC 63 and 64 projects in offshore Campeche state worth $ 200 mm, scheduled for completion in May 2002. In 2001, Horizon earned $ 272 mm in contract revenues, $ 144 mm coming from contracts with Pemex.
