01-05-02 Aker Kvaerner landed the last of the major contracts for Norsk Hydro's NOK 15 bn ($ 1.7 bn) Grane field development project in the North Sea by being awarded the NOK 300 mm ($ 34.8 m) contract for field installations and hook-up services.
Aker Kvaerner has previously secured contracts for engineering and construction and delivery of drilling equipment for the Grane production platform. The scope of work covered by the newly-signed contract will be undertaken when the platform is installed on the field in April 2003.
Grane has recoverable reserves of 705 mm barrel of oil while plateau production is estimated to be 214,000 bpd. The natural gas, piped to Grane via the Heimdal platform, will be injected in the reservoir to improve oil recovery, while the oil from Grane will be piped to the Sture terminal through a new pipeline.
The Grane field is scheduled to come onstream in October 2003.
