24-04-02 Pakistan's National Refinery has awarded an engineering and design contract to ExxonMobil for its lube refinery revamp project, a refinery official said. The project, slated to be completed by 2004, aims to increase production by 20 % at an estimated cost of $ 17 mm, he said.
NRL is also planning to install a light naphtha isomerisation plant of 5,000 bpd at an estimated cost of $ 40 mm, he added.
The refinery will also set up a high sulphur diesel desulphurisation plant to reduce sulphur content in diesel, in order to meet the government's sulphur guidelines, he said.
NRL produces LPG, gasoline, kerosene, jet fuel, diesel, and fuel oil. The refinery is currently producing at around 2.9 mm tpy.
