Duke/Fluor Daniel wins contract to build power plant in Ohio

15-04-02 Duke/Fluor Daniel has been awarded a contract by Duke Energy North America to provide turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the 1,240-MW Hanging Rock Energy Facility in Lawrence County, Ohio.
The natural gas-fuelled facility will feature two pairs of General Electric 7 FA combustion turbine generators operating in combined cycle with two General Electric class D11 steam turbine generators. Commercial operation is scheduled for summer 2003.

"Hanging Rock brings Duke/Fluor Daniel's portfolio of active EPC projects for natural gas-fired power generation to more than 22,000 MW," said Jeff Faulk, president and CEO of Duke/Fluor Daniel. "This project helps maintain our leadership in bringing combined- cycle and simple-cycle power projects from the drawing board to the grid."
"Given its strategic location in the grid and the overall quality of the project, Hanging Rock is a solid example of the merchant power projects that will serve North America's energy appetite -- which is continuing to grow at a baseline rate of 1 % to 2 % per year," said Jim Donnell, president and CEO of Duke Energy North America. "Duke/Fluor Daniel continues to do an excellent job equipping us to serve that growing demand."
