Oseberg oilpipeline awarded

Feb. 5, 1997 Norsk Hydro has awarded a 170 million crown ($ 26.3 mm) contract to offshore company DSND Subsea AS to build an oil pipeline between the Oseberg East oilfield and the Oseberg field centre. The contract comprises engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the 25-km (16 mile) pipeline. Oseberg East lies in a water depth of 160 metres (525 ft) and holds recoverable reserves of about 145 million barrels of oil. Process capacity at the platform will be 75,500 barrels per day. Part processing of the oil will take place at Oseberg East before it is piped to the field centre for further processing and transport to shore. Total investment in the field is around 3.4 billion crowns (> $ 500 mm). Start-up is scheduled for October 1998.
