Contracts signed for new oil pipeline in Tunisia

Sept. 3, 1997 A contract to build a new oil pipeline in southern Tunisia has been signed by the Tunisian Petroleum Company (ETAP), United States oil firm Nomeco, and the local company Bouchamaoui Industries.
The contract, worth around $ 30 million, involves building a pipeline linking the fields of El Franig and Baguel to a pipeline carrying crude from El Borma, in south-western Tunisia.
Development of the 115 km pipeline has been entrusted to the Tunisian company, Bouchamaoui Industries. Construction work is expected to be finished first quarter of 1998.
The El Franig and Baguel fields were discovered by Nomeco in 1981 and 1983, respectively. Nomeco holds stakes in the two concessions in association with ETAP.
