19-04-99 Bell Geospace announced that it is planning to acquire three-dimensional full tensor gradient (3-D FTG) data for Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM), the Shell and Exxon owned operator, in the Dutch sector of the North Sea. The survey will be conducted using Bell Geospace's second 3-D FTG instrument installed on the M.V. Northella, which is currently collecting gradient data in Europe.
Bell Geospace's 3-D FTG technology will be used to gradient optimise 3-D seismic data to image the tops and flanks of salt masses within the sector. Interpretation of the gradient optimised 3-D seismic data will be done jointly by NAM, Shell and Bell Geospace.
"3-D FTG is a cost-effective, efficient and environmentally neutral means of optimising data to delineate the size, shape and thickness of complicated subsurface structures," said Larry J. White, Bell Geospace's President and CEO. "We are very excited about the opportunity to acquire 3-D FTG data for NAM and to assist in the identification of these
salt features."
Bell Geospace, based in Houston, Texas, is a privately held, technology-based company that is the exclusive provider of high-resolution three-dimensional Full Tensor Gradient data to the oil and gas market.
Leading exploration and production companies employ the company's products and services to gradient optimise seismic data and identify promising drilling locations.
