Sinopec strikes more gas in northeast China
02-06-08 Sinopec struck gas in a second exploration well in northeast China, the firm's parent group said, as the state oil firm pushes to boost its gas reserves.
The Yaoshen 2 well in the Songnan gasfield, in the southern part of Songliao Basin in north-eastern China, and managed by Sinopec's Northeast Oil and Gas Co, produced 110,000 cm of natural gas on May 12.
It could produce 300,000 cmpd if the company did not curb its outflows, a volume similar to the Yaoshen 1 well that gushed in July 2006.
The company has submitted proven gas reserves of 44.3 bn cm in the Songnan gasfield for further review and started from this year to build 1-bn-cm of annual gas producing capacity.
