25-06-08 Petronas Pakistan of Malaysia has made a second natural gas discovery on the Mubarak Block in the Ghotki district of south-eastern Sindh province in Pakistan. The discovery was made by the Saqib-1A well, which was drilled to the planned depth of 3,780 m.
The well was successfully tested and flowed 13.4-25.2 mm cfpd of gas and 47.5-63.9 bpd of condensate. The discovery is being evaluated to draw up a development plan.

Petronas Pakistan, which holds a 57 % stake in the block is operator on behalf of itself, ENI Pakistan 38 %, and Pakistan's Government Holdings, 5 %.
Previous exploration activities resulted in a discovery from the Rehmat-1 well in 2001 that was developed and brought on stream in 2005. Subsequently, the partners elected to drill Saqib-1A after extensive evaluation of the block. Production is expected to start by 2009.
