Tullow Oil finds further prospects in Ghana field
11-07-08 Anglo-Irish player Tullow Oil said a second successful drillstem test on the Mahogany-2 appraisal well on the giant Jubilee discovery off Ghana had further firmed up prospects at the field.
Tullow said that the test of a 23-metre interval of the upper Mahogany reservoir flowed oil at a rate of 4,448 bpd and gas at about 5.1 mm cfpd. Flows were restricted by the available equipment, it said.
The tested interval represents about 40 % of the pay column in the upper reservoir in the well.
A previous drillstem test of the lower reservoir in June yielded oil flows of 5,200 bpd. Tullow said the tests confirmed that producing wells on the field should be capable of flowing at rates above 20,000 bpd.
The Jubilee field lies in Ghana's offshore Cape Three Points Block.
The block is operated by Kosmos Energy with a 30.8975 % share, while US independent Anadarko holds a similar stake and Tullow holds 22.896 %. Sabre Oil & Gas holds 1.854 %.
