Beach Petroleum finds oil in Queensland

18-06-09 Australia's Beach Petroleum has hit oil with the Perlubie South-1 well in licence PEL 92 in the Queensland sector of the Cooper-Eromanga basin.
Preliminary evaluation showed Perlubie South-1 well has struck an oil column between 1313 and 1316 metres, with oil water contact similar to that in the Perlubie-1 discovery to the north, project partner Cooper Energy said.

The well has been suspended as a future oil producer and could be tied to the production facilities at the nearby Perlubie oilfield. Land rig Ensign 30 was released from the well site this morning and will move to its next well, Butlers-1.
Australia's Beach Petroleum operates PEL 92 with a 75 % interest. Cooper Energy holds the remaining 25 %.
