Up to a few decades ago clean air and pure water as well as unspoiled nature were freely and abundantly available. Waste products were discarded in the easiest way. It took "Silent Spring by R. Carson" to wake us up. Nowadays pollution controls and climate warming (including Emission Trading) are the topic of the day. As a substantial part (up to 3/4th CO2 emission) is due to the energy sector, the Brussels Energy Round Table looked into the problem of what the European Union does or intends to do about it.
Hence the survey of European environmental policy measures since 1990. This publication "European Legislation on Environment (including Emission Trading) 1990 - 2006" lists the official text of all European Decisions, Directives, Conventions (in all 3100 pages). As European Environment Policy is both very extensive and heterogeneous, the material is spread over 5 volumes.
