Kenya and Uganda invite pipeline project bids

26-05-04 Kenya and Uganda through the Joint Coordinating Commission have invited pre-qualification bids from experienced private firms to partner in the project to extend the oil pipeline from Kenya to Uganda.
The advertisement intends to identify interested private sponsors with capacity and experience to enter into partnership with the two governments to develop and operate the extension.

The project to be developed by a public/private partnership will have an equity structure of 49 % government and 51 % private sector.
"It involves development and operation of an 8-inch diameter multi-product pipeline from either Eldoret or Kisumu in Kenya to Kampala, through Malaba and Jinja," an advert read in part.
