30-05-08 Chairman of the Algerian Sonatrach Petroleum, Mohammed Mezyan, announced the desire of the Algerian authorities to raise the amount of exported gas by 31 % which is equivalent to about 85 bn cm annually.
Mezyan told that Sonatrach seeks, through the lifting of the export capacity, to find a place in international markets, particularly the American market that is characterized by the presence of partners with high expertise in the field of gas.

He added that the Algerian company recently signed two cooperation contracts with two American companies aimed at providing the US market with the Algerian natural gas.
He explained that the American market is promising in view of its growing need for this vital and strategic commodity.
