Kazakhstan to join North-South Transport Corridor project

07-07-02 Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said his country plans to take an active part in the project to build the North-South Transport Corridor. Issues of energy cooperation were actively discussed at an informal meeting of the presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in Aktau.

Nazarbayev stressed that the discussion of cooperation in the energy sector did not reveal any disagreements between the heads of state who confirmed their commitment to broader cooperation. As an example, he cited the successful cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in the development of oil fields in the Caspian, including the Russian-Kazakh agreement on the median line of the Caspian Sea.
