Poland to make no price difference between Norwegian and Russian gas
09-08-00 The president of the Polish Oil, Mining and Gas Industry (PGNiG) has claimed there will be no price difference between Norwegian and Russian gas imports to the country.
Andrzej Lipko was speaking at a conference in Warsaw as talks got underway with Norway as the two countries negotiate establishing a permanent gas supply between the two states.
The conference was summoned to deflect criticism of the planned gas pipeline from Norway across the North Sea and the Baltic to Poland contained in a letter to Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek from a leading Polish private oil and gas trader Aleksander Gudzowaty. Lipko said the Norwegian gas would flow to Poland not earlier than in 2006. Karbownik recalled that according to estimates Poland will consume 22 bn cm of gas in 2010, twice more than at present.
