Norway and Russia agree on oil and gas cooperation

28-08-02 Norway and Russia have agreed to improve their cooperation in a number of energy sectors as a means of promoting their oil and gas industries for added international investment.
Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy Einar Steensnaes and Russia's Deputy Minister of Natural Resources Petr Sadovnik met at an Offshore Northern Seas Conference in Stavanger, Norway, and signed an agreement setting forth their commitment to increased dialogue and cooperation.

The two officials signed a cooperation program on an energy dialogue to enhance the energy dialogue on issues of mutual interest for the two countries. In addition, the purpose of the dialogue will be to promote investment projects with participation of companies from both countries.
The energy dialogue will concern issues like resource management, environmental issues, and safety, technology, oil and natural gas markets, as well as issues related to energy policy, legislation, etc. Both ministers express their satisfaction with a strengthened energy dialogue, and plan to meet at regular intervals in the future.
