Petrobras to increase oil output by 460,000 bpd this year

12-08-08 Brazil's federal energy company Petrobras plans to increase oil production by 460,000 bpd by the end of 2008, company CFO Almir Barbassa said.
Three new units are due to enter production in the fourth quarter. Platforms P-51 and P-53 will have a combined capacity of 360,000 bpd and the Cidade Niteroi FPSO will add 100,000 bpd to Petrobras output.

"Those platforms will begin production by the end of the year. Until then, other units will reach peak production," he said in reference to P-52 and P-54, which entered production in the end of 2007.
Output at P-52 and P-54 is expected to reach 180,000 bpd each in the second half of this year.

Petrobras' total oil and gas production grew 4 % in the second quarter of 2008 to 2.39 mm bpd year-over-year, according to Barbassa.
Petrobras' domestic oil and gas production increased 0.4 % in May to 2.16 mm boepd from April levels.
