Iran’s first phase of associated gases collection project to come on stream

02-03-05 The first phase of a project for collection of associated gases from oil in the oil fields of Ahvaz, Aab Teimur, Koupal, Mansouri and Marun will come on stream in June.
Announcing this, Director of the development project Mohammad Bijanfar told that the project aims to protect national resources, prevent burning of associated gases, check environment pollution, extract liquid gases and make up for part of the domestic gas shortage.

Bijanfar said the project would prevent the daily burning of 240 mm cf of associated sour gases in the operation units no. one, two and three, Aab Teimur, Mansouri, Koupal and Marun.
He said the associated gases in the fields, which serve as feedstock for the facilities for collection of the associated gases, are converted to sour gases and gas liquids, subsequently they are separated into gases and sour liquid gases and then undergo processing in two separate units.

Once the gas is sweetened in the refinery, 6 mm cm of enriched gases, 5,000 barrels of sweet gas liquids and 510,000 cm of acid gases is obtained, said the official. He said the first phase of the project includes establishment of the pressure stations as well as the dehumidification stations of Ahvaz I, II and III, Mansouri, Koupal, Aab Teimur and Marun III.
He added that the project has thus far showed 98.39 % progress, with about $ 450 mm investment. The project, he said, has been implemented in a buy-back mode, costing $ 379 mm for Niko Company, affiliated to National Iranian Oil Company. The project is expected to earn the country $ 210 mm a year and the investment would be recouped in 30 months.
