Iran discovers over 3 bn barrels in-situ oil in four months
05-08-08 "Iran has discovered about 3.07 bn barrels of in-situ oil in 4 new oil fields from the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2008)," the National Iranian Oil Company's deputy director for exploration affairs said.
"750 mm barrels of in-situ oil in Jofeir oil field, 1,300 mm barrels in Balarud oil field, 500 mm barrels in Eastern Assaluyeh oil field and 520 mm barrels in Arvand oil field have been discovered since the outset of the current (Iranian) year," Seyyed Mahmud Mohaddes explained.
"A gas field with the capacity of 1,500 mm cf has also been discovered in Balarud oil field," he added.
He went on to state that discovering new oil fields until the end of the current (Iranian) year would be possible and said, "From among 17 chosen blocks for exploitation we have finalized the contracts of Dayyer, Moghan and Danan blocks".
