Kazakhstan open for US investment in oil and gas sector
27-05-08 Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov has declared the country's oil and gas sector open to investment by US companies.
At a meeting with US congressmen, Masimov stressed that the Kazakh government would guarantee the stability of existing contracts and the country is open to further investment, the prime minister's press service said.
"Masimov noted that Kazakhstan, as a large trade and investment partner of the US in Central Asia, will continue to support the principles of a full-fledged, open and constructive partnership," the press service said.
The head of the delegation, Nick Rahall, who serves as the chairman of the Natural Resources Committee in the US House of Representatives, said Kazakhstan and the US have very strong mutual relations. He said it was important to the US that Kazakhstan is a partner in issues related to security in the region.
