Iran to invest $ 180 mm for establishment of power plant in Tajikistan

15-07-05 Sangtudeh-2 power plant will be established in Tajikistan with a credit of $ 180 mm that will be put at the disposal of the republic by Iran.
Telling about the outcome of his talks with Tajik President Imomali Rakhmonov, Iran's Commerce Minister Mohammad Shariatmadari said executive operations on the "important" project are hopefully to start before the end of President Khatami's second term in office.

Shariatmadari quoted Rakhmonov as highlighting the importance of Iran's membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as an observer. Tajik presidential press office said Shariatmadari and Rakhmonov had in their meeting discussed ways of speeding up construction of Anzab tunnel 4, located 5 km north of Tajikistan, with Iranian financial assistance.
Rakhmonov also supported Iran's contribution to implementation of projects for establishment of small power plants, reconstruction of Tajikistan power network and setting up of manufacturing units.
