Pakistan finalizes first ever maritime policy
08-07-02 Pakistan's first ever maritime policy was finalized at a high level meeting aimed at fully exploiting the country's maritime resources. Additional Defence Secretary Rear Admiral Irfan Ahmad told that the draft policy would be presented before the Federal cabinet in the next two weeks for approval and implementation.
He said the policy lays emphasis on fullest exploitation of maritime resources, extension of maritime zone to 350 nautical miles, survey of Pakistan's sea resources including fisheries, oil and gas and minerals as well as maritime security.
