Facts about China's energy

11-08-08 Energy has always been a focus of the international community.
Here are some facts about China's energy industry.

Crude oil:
Output totalled 186.7 mm tons in 2007, up 1.6 % year on year, ranking fifth in the world. Crude oil consumption was 340 mm tons in 2007, up 6.3 % year on year.

Electricity resource:
The generating capacity of hydroelectric power plants was 145 mm kW, ranking first in the world. The total generating capacity reached beyond 700 mm kW by the end of 2007, ranking second in the world.
Power consumption was 3.2632 tn kWh in 2007, up 14.1 % year on year.

Natural gas:
The output was 69.3 bn cm in 2007. Natural gas consumption totalled 67.3 bn cm in 2007, up 19.9 % year on year.

Fuel gas:
Reserves stood at 134 bn cm by the end of 2007.

Coal mine:
Raw coal output was 2.523 bn tons in 2007.

Wind energy:
Generating capacity was 2.6 mm kW in 2006.

Solar energy: The country's solar boilers covered 90 mm sq meters by 2006.
