Feb 18, 1997 01:00 AM

Feb. 5, 1997 Esso Norge AS has submitted a plan to the Norwegian Government for the development and operation of the Jotun field. Esso Norge will have more than 40 % working interest in the development and will operate the production unit. Enterprise, Conoco, Statoil, and Amerada Hess hold the remaining interest. Jotun is located about 100 miles off the west coast of Norway in 410 feet of water. The development facilities will consist of a Wellhead Platform (WHP) and a FPSO. Oil production from extended reach/horizontal wells will be transferred from the WHP to the FPSO for processing, storage and off-loading to shuttle tankers. Total development investments are estimated to be about $ 950 mm. Construction will commence following government approval of the plan, with production expected to commence in 1999. Plateau production will be approximately 80,000 barrels per day. Estimated recoverable reserves for the three structures to be developed are about 190 million barrels.
