Mar. 3, 1997 Norske Shell AS plans a hefty drilling programme in Norwegian waters in 1997. In its monthly newsletter, the company said it planned follow up exploration drilling during March and April in the Kamskjell area in the southern part of the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, where operator Amoco began activity in December. Under licence 214, Shell said it would drill at Vegahoegda in the Norwegian sea off Norland, which it was awarded under the 15th licensing round. In addition Shell will spud wells at Draugen West and Ormen Lange, where Norsk Hydro is operator, which both lie in the Norwegian Sea. Towards the end of the year, the company plans to drill at Helland Hansen on licence 210 in the Norwegian Sea. Helland Hansen lies in deep waters of around 650 meters, and will be the company's first deep water drilling project in Norway.
