Feb 21, 1997 01:00 AM

Mobil has successfully tested commercial volumes of gas at exploration well 48/12d-9 in the UK sector of the southern North Sea. The flow rate is in excess of 30 mmcfpd, enough to satisfy the average domestic demand of a city the size of Aberdeen. The well is 5 miles west of the Galahad platform on Block 48/12d, around 45 miles North of Bacton in Norfolk. Mobil said that it would now start evaluating development options with partner Brabant Petroleum.
