Turkish and Russian authorities have signed an agreement to increase by one third the natural gas Turkey is receiving annually from Russia.Representatives from Russian Gazprom signed a deal with the Turkish state gas firm earlier in February to raise the annual gas flow to Turkey from 6 bncm to 8 bncm. Turkey is receiving the Russian gas through a pipeline via Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria. Turkey will begin to receive the increased gas flow in 1998, Turkish officials said. Ankara and Moscow also have plans to construct a pipeline under the Black Sea to transfer to Turkey another 14 bncmpy of Russian gas after 2000.
