Bangladesh invites foreign firms to set up power plants

Bangladesh has invited a British company and three US companies for negotiations to build power plants on an emergency basis. The US companies, Wortsila Inc., Smith Co-generation Inc., and Westmot Inc., and Britain's New England Plc have been invited for talks to build stations to add 400 MW by March 1998, according to officials of the Power Development Board. Each company may be asked to set up one power plant with 100 MW capacity. Further details were not given.
