Shell proposes JV's with Petroecuador

Apr 17, 1997 02:00 AM

Shell has proposed a series of joint ventures with Ecuador's state-owned Petroecuador. Shell suggested that the two companies could jointly set up teams to analyse possible development of oil deposits in the Ecuadorian Amazon, including the Sacha and Libertador fields. "In the case of the studies confirming the possibilities of success, Shell would participate in the tender which (Petroecuador) would call for the improved exploitation of those areas," Shell said. Shell is also interested in other joint ventures with Petroecuador to develop other fields and study Ecuador's oil producing potential.
