Bahrain to set up first plant in ME to treat oil tanker waste
Bahrain will set up the first plant in the Middle East to treat oil tanker waste, following approval by the Ministry
of Oil and Industry. The plant, which will be commissioned early next year, will be able to process tanker waste into
high quality products.
Using American technology, it will recycle the waste of tankers that call in the dockyard of the Arab Shipbuilding
and Repair yard of the Organisation of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) in Bahrain
The new venture, called the Middle East Environment Services Company, will be owned by local investors and a
specialised American company.
