Conoco hits oil and gas with Buckland appraisal well
June 19, 1997 Conoco (U.K.) Limited, as operator, has announced the results of a successful appraisal well drilled in
the Buckland field in block 9/18a of the U.K. North Sea about 210 miles north east of Aberdeen. The well is
strategically important in proving the southern extension of Buckland.
Appraisal well 9/18a-28 was drilled to a total depth of 12,109 feet by the semi-submersible rig Borgsten Dolphin.
During tests it flowed at rates of 4,265 barrels of oil per day and 4.4 million standard cubic feet of gas per day
from the Beryl formation sandstones through a 40/64th choke.
