RR to build and own another power station in UK

July 15, 1997 British engineering conglomerate Rolls-Royce Plc is setting up a new electricity generating station in the Midlands, central England, which will cost BP 35 mm. The facility will be built at Fort Dunlop, near Birmingham and feature two Rolls-Royce industrial Trent gas turbines, generating 100 MW of power. Rolls-Royce will finance, own and maintain the facility on a long term basis.
The Eastern Power and Energy Trading, a subsidiary of the Energy Group will provide natural gas and receive pool revenues from the electricity generated under a 15-year agreement between the parties. Commercial operation is scheduled for mid-1998.
Rolls-Royce said it currently owns 100 % of the project under the holding company name Heartlands Power Ltd, but was most likely to bring a 50 % partner into the project. This is the third industrial Trent power station developed and owned by Rolls-Royce to be constructed in the UK in the last 9 months. The other two were in Derby (62 MW) in the Midlands and in Seal Sands on Teeside (50 MW), north east England.
