Petrobras and Fiat build thermal plant
July 1, 1997 Fiat and Petrobras will erect together a 100 MW natural gas-powered thermal plant in Betim (Minas Gerais, Brazil). The plant will demand investments of $ 75 mm. Petrobras will supply natural gas to the plant on a long-term basis. Fiat will be supplied with 50 MW through an exclusive electric power transmission line. In addition to the plant, Fiat will also sign an agreement with BR Distribuidora, Petrobras' fuels distributor, in order to purchase 540 m3 of gasoline, 48 m3 of diesel and 350 tons of fuel oil per month. Fiat will pay R$ 360,000 per month for the products.
